WARNING!!!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
And he said, “Yes, go, and say to this people, ‘Listen carefully, but do not understand. Watch closely, but learn nothing.’ Harden the hearts of these people. Plug their ears and shut their eyes. That way, they will not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their hearts and turn to me for healing.”
Isaiah 6:9-10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Isaiah was a prophet called by God to bring the nation of Israel to repentance. In Isaiah, chapter six, the prophet recounts his encounter with the Lord and calling as a prophet. The vision is so strong that Isaiah volunteers for the task of a prophet to the nation.
But Isaiah receives a warning that Jesus will repeat in the gospels. He is told that the people will harden their hearts, plug their ears, and shut their eyes. They will willfully reject the truth that is coming to them.
Jesus declared this was the problem with the religious leaders of His day. They had willfully hardened their hearts, plugged their ears, and shut their eyes to truth.
This should be a warning to us today. Many don’t want to see truth that convicts them. They shut their eyes to see the truth God is trying to present. They close their ears not wanting to hear truth. They have hardened their hearts.
I pray regularly that my eyes will be opened by the Holy Spirit to see God’s truth, my ears will be open to hear the truth, and my heart will receive the truth so that I can be transformed into His image.
We have a choice to receive or reject truth. Many people prefer to create their own version of the truth rather than receive God’s truth. They have already determined what they believe before they even read God’s Word. They willfully reject anything that contradicts what they have decided.
I’m not smart enough to know everything. I want to be taught by the Holy Spirit. I want to always have eyes ready to see, ears ready to hear, and a heart that is open to God.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, open my eyes and ears along with my heart keeping it tender and open to Your truth. Help me to always be growing in the knowledge of Your truth.
