WHEN GRACE GOES HUNTING

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“The king then asked him, ‘Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.’ Ziba replied, ‘Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.’”

2 Samuel 9:3 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

When you are living in "Lo Debar" mindset, you easily convince yourself that God is at best indifferent toward you, and at worst, actively judging you. There is a subtle, toxic thought pattern that tells us God is only looking for those who have it all together.

1. The "Winner’s Circle" Myth

Our minds often tell us that God is looking for the fastest runners, the most eloquent speakers, or the most successful entrepreneurs. We imagine that if we aren’t "the best," then God isn’t interested.

However, look at the heart of King David. He wasn't searching for a strong soldier to serve him or a brilliant mind to advise him. He was asking a different question: “Is there anyone still alive... I want to show God’s kindness to them?”

David wasn't looking for ability; he was looking for availability to receive grace.

2. Covenant Of Blessing

In the dry silence of Lo Debar, Mephibosheth was convinced if David found him, he would kill him. He was living out of a mindset of fear. What he didn't know was that his father, Jonathan, had entered a covenant with David years before.

That covenant changed David’s responsibility. He wasn't looking for an heir of Saul to punish; he was bound by a promise to find an heir of Jonathan to bless.

3. The Audit vs. The Invitation

Like Adam and Eve in the Garden, we often try to hide from God because we believe the lie that He is coming to "audit" our mistakes. We think He wants to point out our addictions, recount our failures, or remind us of the debt we can’t pay.

David is a "type" of Christ in this story. God isn't hunting you down to judge you; He is seeking you out because of a Covenant made on a different hill—the hill of Calvary.

  • Through the blood of Jesus, you have been invited into a relationship of forgiveness, freedom, and wholeness.

  • You don't have to hide your limp or "fix your feet" to be found.

  • You are not invisible to God. Grace has gone hunting for you.

The "Covenant" Audit

To move out of Lo Debar, you must believe the King's heart is for you, not against you.

  • The Question: Do you view God as a "Debt Collector" looking for what you owe, or as a "Covenant Keeper" looking for who He can bless?

  • The Move: Stop trying to "perform" your way out of your limp. Realize that Jesus didn't die for a "perfect" version of you; He died for the version of you currently sitting in Lo Debar.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Jesus, thank You for seeking me out when I was trying to stay hidden. Thank You for the Covenant made at the Cross that overrides every mistake in my life. I stopped running today. I accept Your invitation to grace, mercy, and healing. I am ready to be found. Amen.
