MAKE EVERY EFFORT

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling… Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”
Ephesians 4:1–3 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, urges us to make every effort to stay united in the Spirit. Unity isn’t automatic. It takes intentional work, especially in a world—and even a Church—where it’s easier to argue than to love, easier to divide than to come together.
We often find ourselves focusing on differences, debating theology, or judging others’ flaws. But Paul reminds us that unity is nurtured through humility, gentleness, and patience.
• Humility helps us see others as equals, not beneath us.
• Gentleness allows us to respond with love instead of criticism.
• Patience gives space for others to grow—just as we hope others are patient with us.
We’re often quick to judge others but quick to excuse ourselves. But love—the kind that looks past faults—is what Jesus said would show the world that we belong to Him (John 13:35).
Church attendance, perfect doctrine, or memorized verses don’t prove our discipleship. Love does.
Reflection:
Who can you love today, even if it’s difficult? Who do you need to forgive, embrace, or simply be patient with?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me work for unity in the Spirit. Teach me to walk in humility, gentleness, and patience. Help me love like You love.
