TRUE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“In the same way, ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’ The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God. What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.”

Galatians 3:6-9 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

The apostle Paul continues his passionate defense of salvation by faith alone. He’s drawing a bold line between two paths: faith in Jesus or reliance on the law. Paul wants his readers—and us—to understand that our right standing with God comes through believing, not achieving.

To prove his point, Paul brings in a powerful witness: Abraham. He wasn’t just the physical ancestor of Israel—he was the spiritual blueprint for all who believe.

Three Key Truths from This Passage:

1. Abraham was made right with God by faith

Paul says, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous.”

This happened before Abraham was circumcised, and hundreds of years before the Law of Moses even existed. Abraham was made right with God not because of rituals or rules, but because he trusted God’s promise.

Right standing with God has always come through faith—not religious performance.

2. Abraham’s faith was meant to bless the world

God told Abraham, “All nations will be blessed through you.” That wasn’t just a nice thought—it was a prophecy of the Gospel. Paul makes it clear: this promise pointed to a future where Gentiles (non-Jews) would also be made right with God through faith in Christ.

God’s plan was never to bless one people group—it was to bless all nations through faith in Jesus.

3. Faith makes us true children of Abraham

Paul says, “The real children of Abraham are those who put their faith in God.” That’s a powerful identity statement. It means that when you place your faith in Jesus, you don’t just get saved—you get adopted into the family of Abraham.

All the promises given to Abraham and his descendants now apply to you, not because of your heritage, but because of your faith.

You are not an outsider—you’re family. A full heir of every promise God made.

A Personal Reflection:

I may not have Jewish roots, but by putting my faith in Jesus, I’ve been born again into the family of God. I’m a child of Abraham—not by bloodline, but by believing. That means I walk in the same covenant blessings: provision, purpose, protection, and God’s presence.

I don’t earn God’s promises—I inherit them through faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, help me to see myself as born again into God’s family. I am a child of Abraham by faith. Every promise made to him is available to me in Christ. Strengthen my faith and help me live from the identity You’ve given me—not as a stranger, but as a son/daughter of the covenant.

I always like to go back to the thief on the cross who had no time nor ability to do anything but believe and confess.
