PRAY FOR WORKERS

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his field.
Luke 10:2 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is no problem with the harvest--Jesus said there are many people who need to hear about the grace of God and His plan for their life. The struggle is in getting enough workers to partner with God in His process of redemption of mankind.
Therefore, we are to begin by praying for more workers. Perhaps this should become a daily prayer of those of us who are followers of Christ.
In my experience, when I get people to begin to pray for workers, they become workers themselves. Talking to God about His heart for humanity infects us with a desire to do something about those who are hurting and separated from God.
My formula is, "Prayers are Workers!" If there aren't enough workers, then there aren't enough prayers. Start by asking people to pray that God will send workers to share the gospel with the lost in our world. Then the Spirit speaks to them as they pray about how they can be one of those people.
I keep a list of people that I am praying for who are not yet fully devoted followers of Christ. I have stopped asking God to save them because God has already done His part in sending Jesus to the earth to pay the price for their sins. My prayer is that God will send into their path people who will point them to a personal relationship with Jesus. I pray for workers to come into their lives.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Father God, I ask for the Holy Spirit to raise up workers for the kingdom. Empower us to bring light into a dark world. Forgive us for our complacency and apathy. Show me where I can serve as a worker in Your kingdom.
