PRIORITIZE
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.
Philippians 3:15-16 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul has just laid out his personal plan to forget the past and press on toward the prize of knowing Christ Jesus. He is calling all followers of Christ to prioritize knowing Jesus. This should be our goal of life.
Yet, Paul recognizes even those who are seeking to know Jesus fully will not always agree on everything. Perhaps the Holy Spirit let Paul know there would come a day when human flesh would mix with the moving of the Spirit and the Church would be split into various camps with each claiming to have the true revelation from God.
Paul challenged his readers to allow God to reveal the truth. Don’t abandon your faith or the basic teachings and start focusing on the minors. Let God work in us and through us to bring harmony and unity.
There has always been and always will be strong personalities with different opinions. Sometimes those differences seem overwhelming, and sides start to attack each other.
These are the moments we need to focus on what unites us not what divides us. We need to give the differences to God and trust Him to work out the problems caused by human flesh.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to be a person of unity not division. Help my life to work for harmony.
