WHEN YOU PRAY
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matthew 6:5-6 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Prayer means different things to different people. For some, prayer is all about getting God to do what they want. Those prayers are rarely answered because the motivation is wrong. For others, prayer is an opportunity to show off their spirituality. This was the problem with the religious people of Jesus’ day. They wanted to impress the people with their prayers.
Jesus taught us that true prayer is a conversation with our Heavenly Father. A conversation that brings heaven down to earth. We do spiritual battle through our prayers and bring God’s will on this earth.
Watchman Nee said, “Our prayers lay the track down on which God’s power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, his power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails.”
We should never be confused to think that our prayers are to change God. They are to change us and to change the spiritual forces attempting to hinder God’s will from being done. Our prayers have the power to release God’s will on earth. His will should be the top priority of our lives. Nothing else is as important as the will of God.

This was powerful. I want to feel heaven on earth.
I want to see God’s kingdom come and will done on earth through my life. I want to be a person who is building those tracks for His power to come.
