TIME AND PLACE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

There is a very important key to prayer in this passage. The key is finding a ‘’secret place” to pray. I believe there are two main keys to developing a lifestyle of prayer—a time and a place.

In order for prayer to become a habit in our lives we must decide when and where we are going to pray. I don’t believe there is anything special or super spiritual about praying early in the morning. Morning time has been my choice because of my personal rhythm of life but I know of others that choose mid-day or even nights for their prayer time. Jesus prayed early in the morning, and He prayed late at night. Choose a time that you can be consistent in prayer.

Then find a place. Prayer must have a place. God is everywhere and we can talk to Him anywhere at any time, but to be consistent in our prayer life we often need a consistent place. This place should be separate from interruptions from others or social media.

I personally have a couple of places I go to for my prayer times. When the weather is right, I enjoy talking to God outdoors when I walk. At other times I have a chair where I do my reading and journaling and I can pray in that chair. I also have a room in our home I can go into and close the door for intense times of intercession.

Throughout the seasons of my life my time and place have changed. Don’t get caught up in the necessity to always pray at the same time or place—but it will help if you have a regular place to meet with God.

When will you pray and meet with God on a regular basis?

Where will you pray?

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me today to decide when and where I will pray. Help me to develop a habit of prayer that can transform my life.

I want to learn thy will of God, that there is something, someone always with me. To not stress over myself, rather be selfless in my day to day.

I believe it is the consistency of prayer that transforms us—not the one time desperation.
