SERVE WITH ENTHUSIASM
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Never be lazy but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble and keep on praying.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Serving God should not be monotonous, boring, and laborious. I believe Jesus wants to give us a vibrant, enthusiastic, loving relationship. I think this is what Paul was talking about when he challenges us to “work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.”
In my time in ministry, I have seen a lot of people come to faith in Christ, get really excited for a season, and then fall into a boring, religious exercise that breeds little life and enthusiasm. Some people seem to repeat this cycle regularly in their journey of faith.
Taking time to fast and pray moves us to open our lives to a new awareness of God. Doing the “hard work” of fasting from something we love to make more space for God in our lives opens the door to a vibrant, fulfilling relationship with the Holy Spirit.
When we choose to carve out additional time for prayer in our daily schedule, we are opening our hearts and minds to a new awareness of God’s presence. He is with us and wanting to work in and through us. We just must make room for His activity in our lives.
Let’s begin by asking God to pour into our lives a new enthusiasm for serving Him. Let’s expect a new awareness of God’s presence. A new clarity in His purpose and plan for our lives. Let’s believe that confident hope will be born larger than ever in our lives.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I need You to realign my life. I want to serve You with a renewed enthusiasm. I want to have Your joy in my life. I want a new awareness of Your presence in every day of my life. Help me to be aware of You today and always.
