BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS. . .
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”
Revelation 12:11 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
In our journey through spiritual warfare, we must fully comprehend the absolute, atomic power of the blood of Jesus.
Our focus passage today reveals the ultimate key to conquering the enemy: we defeat Satan “by the blood of the Lamb. “The blood is not a passive symbol; it is an active, conquering weapon.
Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we are legally granted three profound realities on the battlefield:
1. Total Forgiveness
John reminds us in his first letter that “the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Focus intensely for a moment on that word: all. There is no mistake, no failure, and no dark season in your past that the blood of Jesus has not fully paid for and cannot completely erase.
The moment we confess our sins and turn from them; they are entirely covered by His blood. This means you never have to live under the weight of fear, shame, or regret. The enemy loves to throw your past in your face, but the blood clears your record. As Paul stated, there is now absolutely no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2. Supernatural Protection
Not only does the blood of Jesus cleanse us, but it actively protects us from the power of the enemy. Right before going to the cross, Jesus told His disciples: “The ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me” (John 14:30). Because there was zero sin in Jesus' life, Satan had no legal right, no leverage, and no foothold to claim control over Him.
The mental picture I get is from a classic small-town rodeo hosting a greased pig contest. They turn a group of kids loose in the arena to try and catch a pig covered in grease. It is a hilarious sight—the moment a kid thinks they have a firm grip, the pig effortlessly slips right out of their hands. There is simply nothing to hold onto.
Spiritually speaking, the blood of Jesus "greases up" our lives. When the enemy tries to lunge at you with accusations of your past, he finds nothing to grab onto. The legal handles of sin and shame have been completely washed away by the blood of Christ.
3. Absolute Boldness
Because of the blood of Jesus, we have been granted a royal invitation to walk straight past the security barriers of heaven and enter the Most Holy Place. The writer of Hebrews explains that we can do this because our “guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean” (Hebrews 10:19-22).
Think about the weight of that truth. We do not stand before the holy God of the universe based on our own good behavior, our own righteousness, or our own perfect track record. We stride boldly because we are covered in the spotless blood of His Son. When the Father looks at you, He sees the blood. When He listens to your prayers, He responds because of the blood.
Personal Application Questions:
Have I fully accepted the blood's verdict? Are you still trying to punish yourself for past mistakes that Jesus already paid for on the cross?
Am I letting the enemy grab hold of me? Is there an unconfessed sin in your life right now that is giving the enemy a handle to pull you around?
Am I praying with bold confidence? When you approach the Father in prayer, do you come like a timid beggar, or do you come like a cleansed child of the King?
Tactical Steps for Today:
Confess and Repent: Immediately hand over any known sin to the Holy Spirit, allowing the blood of Jesus to remove the handle from the enemy’s reach.
Evict Condemnation: Open your mouth and verbally declare God’s Word over your life whenever a spirit of shame, guilt, or condemnation tries to whisper in your ear.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I ask You to reveal any hidden area of sin in my heart that I need to confess and turn away from today. I receive the total cleansing, absolute forgiveness, and perfect freedom purchased for me at the cross. Thank You that the blood of the Lamb has removed every handle of shame the enemy has tried to use against me. I choose to step boldly and confidently into the throne room of heaven today, fully covered by the righteousness of Jesus. Amen.
