MOTIVATE EACH OTHER
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
How can we “motivate one another?”
I propose that we can motivate people when we know their strengths and speak into their strengths. Often, we don’t see the things that God has already placed in our lives. We can always use someone else to see in us that we don’t see in ourselves.
What if you asked the Holy Spirit to show you one person this week that you could motivate for God’s kingdom. Then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the strengths that God has already placed in that person’s life. Once you begin to see them the way God sees them, ask for the privilege to speak to them.
When you speak to them identify things that you feel are strengths in their lives. Don’t make it general. Be specific. Talk about their ability to organize, to recruit others, to bring a smile and encouraging word, or to have empathy with those who are hurting. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you their unique gifts and talents that are already evident in their life.
Once you point these strengths out, encourage them in ways those strengths can be used in the work of God’s kingdom. Help them to see how they can be blessed to be a blessing.
Most people want to think their lives matter. They want to think they are making a difference in the world. The way we make a difference is by using the strengths God has placed in us. Our strengths will be the doorway for our success in life.
When I talk about success in this context it is more than just making money—even though our strengths will be our secret to financial favor. But beyond the financial resources there will be a sense of meaning and fulfillment. That is really success.
When we build up others, we are building ourselves up. We feel better about ourselves because we have invested in the lives of others. When I lift someone else, I am lifting myself. We are all better when one gets better.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit show me who I can motivate this week. Help me to see in them more than they see in themselves. Help me to see them the way You see them. Give me wisdom in speaking words that will call out Your gifts in their life.
