WHERE DO YOU FIT?

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people
Ephesians 4:11-13 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
We have reached the powerhouse of Ephesians 4:11, it is time to shift from the "Victor’s Spoils" to the "Service Station." Paul explains that Christ gave specific leaders to the church not to do all the work, but to "equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church".
The goal is for the whole body to be healthy, growing, and full of love as each part does its own special work.
The Body Part Assessment:
"Which Part Are You Playing?"
This assessment helps you identify your current "function" based on the "Five-Fold" gifts and the "Body" imagery in Ephesians 4.
1. The "Eyes" (The Apostolic/Prophetic Influence)
How you function: You see the "big picture." You are often looking ahead to where the church needs to go next or sensing where the "spiritual temperature" is dropping.
The Goal: To provide vision and keep the Body aligned with God’s Truth.
Your Risk: Getting frustrated when others don't see the "horizon" as clearly as you do.
2. The "Mouth" (The Evangelistic Influence)
How you function: You are the "bringer." You naturally think about those outside the walls and find ways to invite them in. You are the "stretcher-bearer" who won't stop until they reach Jesus.
The Goal: To expand the Body by reaching the lost.
Your Risk: Valuing the "numbers" of people more than the "depth" of their growth.
3. The "Heart" (The Pastoral/Shepherding Influence)
How you function: You are the "tenderhearted" one. You notice the person sitting alone, the one who is hurting, or the one struggling with a "root of bitterness". You want to protect and care for the flock.
The Goal: To keep the Body healthy and united in peace.
Your Risk: Getting so focused on the "hurt" that you forget to lead people toward the "help" of growth.
4. The "Hands" (The Teaching Influence)
How you function: You love the "How-To." You take complex truths and make them practical for daily life. You want people to "walk the talk".
The Goal: To stabilize the Body so it isn't "tossed back and forth" by every new teaching.
Your Risk: Becoming a "lecturer" instead of a "life-changer."
5. The "Ligaments" (The Service/Support Influence)
How you function: You are the "carefully joined" parts that hold everything together. You are the one making sure the details are in place for everything to function right. Without you, the "Head" can't move the "Feet".
The Goal: To coordinate and empower every other part to work.
Your Risk: Burning out because you feel your "behind-the-scenes" work isn't as "spiritual" as the others.
Assessment Outcome
Paul says the Body only grows when "each part does its own special work".
If you are an Eye: Look.
If you are a Hand: Work.
If you are a Heart: Love.
When you play your part, the whole body becomes "full of love".
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to discover my part in Your body. Help me to function fully in my part so that Your kingdom will grow.
