TRUST GOD’S LOVE FOR US
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Joel 2:12-13 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The nation had been in rebellion against God and judgment had come in the form of locusts. But God wanted them to know His desire was not judgment but redemption. He wanted the nation to turn from their sins and reestablish a right relationship with their covenant partner—Almighty God.
God wants us to know that coming to Him begins on the inside— “come with fasting, weeping, and mourning” not just tearing “your clothes in your grief.” God says we need to “tear your hearts instead.”
I believe it is crucial to remember serving God is not about outward religious activity but about having our hearts in alignment with the heart of God. Giving God our desires and dreams and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our priorities.
God is filled with “unfailing love”—what an awesome concept. His love never fails or runs out. We can take every sin, failure, compromise, bad choice, lie, bad attitude, and everything else and lay it before Father God. His love covers it all when we give it to Him in humility and confession. If we hide it and hold it God’s love can’t cover it.
God is eager to “relent and not punish.” He wants to bless us and love on us, but He can’t do that if we demand to live our way instead of His way.
We must learn to trust God’s love for us, not abuse it!
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I need Your help. Show me any areas of my life that are not in alignment in You. Show me how to get my heart in alignment with You. Help me to trust Your love and not abuse Your love.

Holy Spirit . You are surely speaking to me these days and I’m ever grateful for that. Father God please forgive me for times I’ve actually abused your love and been ungrateful. Lord I receive you in my life and thank you for everything.
