KINGDOM ECONOMY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.”
Ephesians 4:28 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
In the "Old Nature," the goal of resources is Accumulation. In “New Nature," the goal of resources is Distribution. Paul outlines a three-step transition that moves us from a "scarcity mindset" to a "Kingdom mindset."
1. The Stop: "Quit Stealing"
Stealing isn't always about breaking into a house. In our modern context, we "steal" in subtle ways:
Time Theft: Giving 50% effort while being paid for 100%.
Credit Theft: Taking the glory for someone else's idea.
Resource Theft: Using what belongs to others (or God) for our own selfish gain.
The first step is a hard stop. We recognize that taking what isn't ours creates a "spiritual debt" that weighs down our walk.
2. The Shift: "Good Hard Work"
Paul doesn't just say "stop taking"; he says, "start producing." He validates the dignity of manual labor and professional effort. Work is not a curse from the Fall; it is a platform for New Nature. Cindy and I had a goal to teach our sons when they were young the value of hard work. They mowed lawns and later worked summer jobs to learn the value of discipline and honest work.
Old View: I work so I can survive.
Kingdom View: I work so I can serve.
3. The Superpower: "Give Generously"
This is the "why" behind hard work. Paul says we work so that we have something to give. This completely flips the world's economy on its head.
In the World’s Economy, you work to get what you need.
In the Kingdom Economy, you work to meet the needs of others.
The "Pocket" Audit
Ask yourself these three questions today:
Am I taking? Is there any area where I am receiving more than I am earned?
Am I working? Am I giving my "good hard work" to my current assignment as if I’m working for the Lord?
Am I giving? Is my surplus staying in my pocket, or is it flowing to "others in need"?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, thank You for the gift of work. Forgive me for any way I have 'stolen' time or resources from others. Renew my mind to see my job not just as a paycheck, but as a platform for generosity. Help me to work hard today so that I can be a conduit of Your blessing to someone in need. Amen.
