ETERNITY IS REAL

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power. When he comes on that day, he will receive glory from his holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you believed what we told you about him.”
2 Thessalonians 1:9-10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
This passage provides a sobering yet powerful statement about those who reject the gospel, the true essence of heaven and hell, and our responsibility to share the good news.
Let's examine three vital truths from this passage.
1. The Reality of Separation
It can be tempting to avoid conversations about hell, or to wonder how a loving God could allow such a place. However, the Bible—and Jesus Himself—teaches that separation from God is a real and consequential reality.
God does not delight in sending people to destruction; rather, people ultimately choose separation by rejecting the message of salvation offered through Jesus Christ.
2. The Contrast of Eternity: Presence vs. Absence
The defining difference between heaven and hell is the presence of the Lord. In this present life—even in a fallen world—we still experience God's common grace and presence. It is His restraint that keeps human nature from descending into total chaos and destruction.
Hell is defined by the complete absence of God's presence, goodness, and power.
Heaven is the absolute fullness of God's presence, where love, joy, and peace reign forever.
3. The Necessity of the Messenger
Paul commended the Thessalonians because they "believed what we told you." Paul was simply the instrument God used to declare the good news. Without someone sharing the message, the Thessalonians would have remained lost without hope.
Today, there are people all around us who do not know Jesus simply because they have not yet heard the truth. We are called to be the voices that introduce them to His grace.
Personal Check-up
Eternity: Are you ready to spend eternity with God? Have you accepted Jesus as Lord of your life and are you presently living in alignment with His will and Word?
Witness: Are you actively seeking opportunities to share the good news? When was the last time you had a conversation about Jesus outside the walls of a church building?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, search my heart and show me any area of my life that is not in alignment with Your will and way. Help me to see people the way You see them and give me the wisdom and boldness to be a faithful witness. Amen.
