THE REAL CELEBRATION
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
I’ve had a few Christmas celebrations in my life. Out of all the Christmas gifts I received as a child growing up in a wonderful home, I don’t remember many. I remember the year I got my first bike and the year I got my car track with racing cars—my uncles burned up the cars by that afternoon. But the biggest impact I remember of each Christmas at home was the reading of the Christmas story. As we got old enough dad would have us each read a part of the story. It was dad and mom’s way of helping us to focus on the real meaning of the season. It was not about bright lights and wrapped packages. The real story was a baby born in a stable and laid in a manger. He was the gift of Christmas. He was the One Who came to save us from our sins. Don’t allow the season of Christmas to be only about gifts and parties. Let’s remember to pause in worship as we celebrate the birthday of Jesus.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to remember the real reason for this season. Help me to focus on Jesus in all I do.

Jesus is the reason for the season.
Thank You for being born, so I can be free. Help me to remember the price You pay every day for my sins.
