LET GO OF WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.”
Proverbs 3:5-10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Aron Ralston’s story is unforgettable. In 2003, while hiking alone in Utah, an 800-pound boulder trapped his right arm. For five days he tried everything he knew to free himself. Finally, in desperation, he broke his own forearm and amputated his arm with a dull knife to survive. He later titled his book “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.”
Aron was willing to let go of what was holding him back from life.
Most of us will never face that kind of physical decision, but spiritually and practically, many of us are held back—by our pride, sin, or possessions. Solomon shows us the path to life’s greatest blessings: direction, healing, and provision.
1. Finding God’s Direction
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do…”
Letting go of my own understanding means I stop thinking I always know best. Instead, I actively trust God and seek His will. That requires humility: asking God not just to bless my plans, but to reveal His.
Too often, we spend more time telling God what to do than listening for His direction. Solomon reminds us—guidance is available for every part of life if we’ll trust and listen.
2. Finding Healing for My Body
“Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.”
There is a deep connection between the spiritual and physical. Not every sickness is the result of sin—but sometimes sin opens the door to brokenness in our lives.
When we confess and turn away from sin, we allow God’s Spirit to bring wholeness, not just in our soul, but often in our body. Repentance brings freedom and renewal.
3. Finding Provision for Life
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow…”
This refers to tithing—the first ten percent of our income. In Solomon’s day, it meant crops and wine. Today, it means paychecks, investments, or business income.
When we put God first in our giving, He promises to provide more than enough. He multiplies what we surrender.
Conclusion:
Like Aron Ralston, we sometimes need to let go of what is holding us back—our own wisdom, hidden sin, or tight grip on money—to embrace the direction, healing, and provision God longs to give us.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to listen more, repent quickly, and honor You with my income. I want Your will in every part of my life. Amen.
