“I AM” THE TRUTH
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus made a pretty audacious claim. He didn’t claim to be a great Teacher, Miracle worker, or even a Prophet. He claimed to be truth. Jesus claimed that truth was not a religion, list of rules, or process of meditation. Jesus said truth is a person.
This is what separates Jesus Christ from every other leader of every other faith. Other leaders have said, "I'm looking for the truth" or "I'm teaching the truth" or "I point to the truth" or "I'm a prophet of truth." Jesus comes and says, "I am the truth."
By stating that He was “the truth” Jesus was ruling out all other options. And to be sure we got His point Jesus added, “No one can come to the Father except through me.”
There are a lot of people who like to think “all roads lead to heaven.” But Jesus said only one road leads to heaven—me.
For someone to make this kind of a claim only leaves us with three options. C. S. Lewis wrote years ago about Jesus’ claim, “He is either a liar, lunatic, or Lord.” Jesus removed the option of being just a good teacher or good man. If He is not Lord and the Son of God, then He must be a liar or lunatic.
Everyone must believe something or someone. I choose to believe that Jesus is Who He said He was. He is Lord of lords, King of kings, Savior of the world, and the Son of God.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to continue to affirm in my heart the reality of Who Jesus is. Help me to acknowledge His Lordship in every area of my life.
