LISTEN FOR FRESH DIRECTION

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed… We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”
Proverbs 16:3, 9 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The book of Proverbs is a collection of wisdom, much of it gathered by Solomon, designed to guide God’s people in daily living. These verses remind us of the balance between our planning and God’s direction.
1. Start by putting God in charge
We commit our actions to the Lord when we begin our planning with prayer. Too often we pray only after things fall apart. Solomon challenges us to start by inviting God into the process. Prayer sets the foundation for godly decision-making.
2. Success comes through Spirit-led planning
Planning is not unspiritual. In fact, the Holy Spirit can give us ideas, insights, and strategies that help us move forward wisely. Without a plan, we drift; but with a prayerful plan, we move toward God’s purpose with intention.
Those who fail to plan, plan to fail—but those who plan with God position themselves for success.
3. Stay flexible in God’s hands
Even with good plans, life rarely unfolds in a straight line. We may expect to go from point A to point B directly, but God sometimes leads us through C and D first. Flexibility requires daily connection with Him, listening for fresh direction.
I often use the Waze app when driving—it constantly updates the route based on new information. In the same way, the Holy Spirit redirects us when necessary. The key is to keep listening.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me commit my plans to You. Teach me to listen before I act, to make Spirit-led plans, and to stay flexible when You redirect me. Thank You for the promise that when I trust You, my plans will succeed.
