SEEK, TRUST, AND OBEY
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.
Proverbs 3:5-8 NLT
Do you want to know what to do with your life? Do you want to have healing in your body? Solomon gives us a formula for discovering God’s direction and healing in our bodies. It all starts with trusting God instead of trusting ourselves. When we think we know it all and don’t need God we are setting ourselves up for failure. A lot of people are impressed with their own wisdom. But if we live long enough, we come to the point where we realize we don’t have all the answers, we don’t know everything, and at times we are confused. The quicker we admit we don’t have all the answers is the moment we can begin to look to God for His wisdom which is higher than our wisdom. Once we realize we don’t have the answers we need to start to seek God’s will. This is not something we just do in the big things of life—like who to marry, what job to take, etc. We need to learn to seek God’s will in “all you do.” I have discovered that if I seek God’s will in the little things and get them in alignment with Him it is easier to make the big decisions. The final step is to “fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” This is crucial. We must trust that God loves us and wants the best for us. When we have this trust we begin to choose to live our lives in agreement with His plan as revealed in the Bible. We refuse to play with sin. We choose to “turn away from evil.” When we learn that we don’t have all the answers, God does have the answers, and God has revealed those answers in His Word we will begin to experience clarity and healing. I believe that a lot of the sickness in our world is caused by anxiety and worry. Some studies indicate that as much as 80% of physical issues have their root in anxiety, fear, and worry. When we trade worry for trust we release wholeness in our bodies.
Holy Spirit please help me to trust and obey You every moment of every day. Help me to release worry and replace it with trust.
