PRINCE OF PEACE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Could anybody use a little PEACE?

With our modern-day celebrations of Christmas it seems peace is a distant reality. Somehow it seems that life goes into hyperdrive from Thanksgiving to Christmas. If you watch the news you are confronted by a world full of wars and hate. It seems every other day there is another mass shooting somewhere in our nation. We must work hard to find a moment of peace and quiet.

Perhaps God knew one gift we would all need would be the gift of peace. Just as they needed peace in Isaiah’s day and Jesus’ day, we need peace today. The world’s system can’t give peace. It thrives on activity and accomplishments. The world wants us to always be competing with others and ourselves. Working a little harder, trying to do more, and achieve more.

I believe that Jesus came to bring us an inner peace that the world can’t give, and the world can’t take away. This peace is found in the understanding of who we are and whose we are. We are children of God. He is our Father and He wants the best for us.

Let’s don’t get too busy to remember the peace God has given us at Christmas.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I give You thanks today for the gift of Peace. Thanks for sending Jesus to be my Prince of Peace. Help me to fully lean into Your peace this season.
