But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In a world full of activity, challenges, disappointments, wars, poverty, sickness, and people, it is often hard to find peace. Frustration and confusion seem more the norm than peace.
Every Miss America candidate wants "world peace"--but I am convinced few have a clue what that means. Jesus even indicated that there will always be wars and rumors of war. He said we would always have the poor and needy with us. This was not Jesus "giving up" on peace--He was being real about the human equation that has been marred by sin.
Jesus promised His followers a peace that is different from what the world can give. Jesus gives us a peace that is not dependent on outward circumstances. It is a peace that we live in by choice--we choose not to be troubled or afraid--even when circumstances are not perfect.
Have you received the gift of peace? Not laziness or lack of drive--but peace that is the anchor in the storm. Peace that transports you to inner strength in a moment of crisis. Peace that "passes all understanding" because no one can see the source that is within you.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I want the gift of peace in my life. I want to live each day with a calm assurance that God is the head of my life. I want to know that You are working in and through me. You have deposited a deep settled peace within my heart. I will not be moved by the ups and downs of life.
