LOST

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Luke 19:9-10 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

It is important to remember why Jesus came to earth. In His own words Jesus said He came to “seek and save those who are lost.” Jesus did not come just to make us happy, healthy, and wealthy. He didn’t come to just so we could be smarter and faster. Jesus came to transform our lives from being lost to being found. What does it mean to be lost? I remember once being lost as a child in a department store. My mom had taken us shopping with her and my aunt. My brother, sister, and I got to playing around and somehow, I made a wrong turn somewhere and discovered I was separated from everyone else. I had no idea how I had gotten lost or how to find the rest of the family. I still remember the feeling of panic and fear that sat in. I began to cry and a store employee saw me and comforted me while they searched for my mother. There was a huge celebration when I was reunited with my mother. That is what it means to be “lost” in our relationship with God. We sometimes don’t even know how we got so lost. We have this scene of being alone and afraid. Our lives are out of control. We lack direction and clarity. Jesus comes to save us and get us on the road for which we were created. He wants us to be able to live in peace and enjoy the life of freedom and fulfillment as followers of Christ.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me today to surrender fully to the Lordship of Jesus. Help me to listen to You and stay close to You.
