THE POWER OF PRESENCE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Revelation 3:20 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Learning to spend consistent time with Jesus is the single most important factor in a transformed life. Throughout the New Testament, we see that people weren't just changed by a sermon or a miracle—they were changed by the time they spent in His company.
From Levi to Matthew
In Luke 5, Jesus invites a tax collector named Levi to follow Him. The Bible says, “So he left all, rose up, and followed Him” (Luke 5:28). This wasn't a casual encounter. Levi was so transformed by Jesus’ presence that even his name was changed. He became Matthew, the disciple and Gospel writer.
David understood this secret centuries earlier when he wrote:
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” — Psalm 16:11 (NLT)
David didn't just speak of God's power or His rules. David spoke of the joy of His presence.
The Law of Association
Early in our ministry, Cindy and I noticed something interesting about couples who had been married for decades. They often began to look alike, talk alike, and even share the same mannerisms. When we looked at their wedding photos, we realized they didn't start out that way.
What changed? Time. They spent so many years in each other’s presence that they naturally began to mirror one another. This is a fundamental law of life: The people you spend time with will determine the person you become.
Is the Door Open?
In our text today, Jesus presents Himself as a friend knocking at the door. He isn't forcing His way in; He is inviting you to a meal. He wants to enjoy time with you.
As we navigate 2026, the most important question you can ask yourself is not "What should I do?" but "How much time am I spending in the presence of Jesus?" If you want to think like Him and talk like Him, you must be with Him.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to protect my daily time with Jesus. I don't want to just know about Him; I want to be with Him. Renew my mind and change my heart until I begin to think, talk, and love just like He does. Amen.
