PAUSE AND LISTEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Often in ministry I have people ask me about how they can hear from God. In conversation it becomes obvious they view God as some distant force that only visits occasionally to correct or direct their lives.
The New Testament view of God is One Who is with us. Jesus came to be our Emmanuel—God with us. Jesus told His followers it was better for them that He go away so that He and the Father could send the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would live in them—and us.
Paul declares that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirt is living in you and me if we are followers of Christ.
What often happens in our spiritual journey while our spirit is born again and made new. Our soul (the intersection of our mind, will, and emotions) gets “gunked up.” This is a phrase that means “to make something dirty, sticky, or greasy.”
Our mind, will, and emotions can get “gunked up” with the distractions of our world. While we are still saved and filled with the Holy Spirit there is little evidence of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. This “gunked up” experience causes us to feel weighed down, heavy, negative, and sluggish in our spiritual life.
Life has a way of stacking on the pressure and pain, which causes our emotions to get out of whack. As we get tired and weighed down, our conscience can become desensitized, not really bothered by things that once convicted us. God’s voice is slowly muffled, and we begin to lose our passion for Him. The fire within dims, and we shift into autopilot, operating from a position of obligation or routine in our relationship with God, instead of one of affection and fervor.
Taking time for prayer and fasting is like having a spiritual reset button. It allows us to focus on our spiritual condition and restore the vitality and enthusiasm for our relationship with God.
I would suggest along with your time of prayer and fasting you include some journaling to record what the Holy Spirit is saying to you. This act of journal will be a great way to pause and listen to the Holy Spirit inside of you. He is speaking, are you listening?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I want to hear from You. I need You to reset my spiritual fervor. I need You to give me direction and wisdom. I want to know Your purposes, plans, power, and provision in and through my life.

Good word
Trust God regardless of yours or my situation. “The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams”. God has been so faithful in my life. During my journey, I feel Gods love has strengthening me, & brought me closer to the lord.
