FAITH EXPRESSED IN LOVE
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.”
Galatians 5:6 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
One of the most powerful shields we carry in spiritual warfare is our faith.
As we have discussed, our faith is directly linked to two things: the written Word of God and the living Word of God, who is Jesus. Today, let’s focus on how we radically supercharge our faith by fully grasping the depth of God’s love for us.
Here are three keys to understanding how faith and love work together on the battlefield:
1. True Faith Operates Through Love
The ultimate source of our love is God Himself, uniquely expressed through the person of Jesus. When we surrender our lives to Christ, we don't just receive salvation; we receive the literal, active love of God poured into our hearts.
Our faith cannot function in a vacuum. It is designed to be fueled by love. We have all witnessed people who claim to possess "great faith" but lack any visible demonstration of love. They become harsh, legalistic, judgmental, and divisive. This is a massive trap of the enemy. A loveless faith will never win a spiritual battle; it only inflicts friendly fire.
2. Nothing Can Separate Us from His Love
The Apostle Paul issues an unshakeable guarantee regarding our security in combat:
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” (Romans 8:38-39)
When you know you are unconditionally secure in the love of your Commander, fear and anxiety lose their grip on your soul. This security provides the exact foundation of peace we need to stand firm against the enemy's psychological warfare. You don't have to fight for approval; you fight from an established position of absolute acceptance.
3. Our Radical Focus Must Remain on Jesus
The writer of Hebrews coaches us on how to endure the long, grueling race of faith:
“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2)
The more we hyper-focus on our own performance, our own talent, or our own intellect, the more our faith will falter. Our faith grows stronger only when our gaze is locked squarely onto Jesus. He is the ultimate revelation of the Father's heart.
As Paul beautifully summarizes, “overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us” (Romans 8:37). The victory doesn't come through our strength; it comes through the execution of His love.
Personal Application Questions:
How deeply convinced am I that God loves me right now? Do you truly believe He loves you on your worst days just as much as He does on your best days?
Am I actively resting in that love? Are you still exhaustingly trying to work for God's love and approval, or are you living from a secure position of already being loved?
Is my faith expressing itself in love to those around me? Think about your recent interactions, especially during times of stress. Has your faith looked more like legalism or like Christ-centered love?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I ask You to expand my capacity to comprehend the sheer scale of Your love for me today. Help me to lean fully into that love as my ultimate security. Break any religious mindset that tells me I have to earn Your affection. Let the profound reality of being loved by You build an unshakeable faith within me and let that faith overflow into genuine love for everyone I encounter on the battlefield today. Amen.
