WHEN LIFE IS HARD AND UNFAIR

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
But Joseph replied, ‘Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.’”
Genesis 50:19-20 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Joseph’s life is an incredible story of how God can turn even the worst betrayals and injustices into blessings for many. He was betrayed by his own brothers, sold as a slave, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison — yet he kept his heart set on God. In the end, Joseph recognized that behind all the pain and injustice, God was working out a greater plan — one that would save countless lives.
Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes people will mistreat you. Sometimes life will be unfair. But God can use even these painful moments to position you exactly where He needs you for His purpose.
So, what do we do when life is hard and unfair?
1. Keep Your Heart Right
This is one of the hardest battles. Bitterness, anger, and the desire for revenge can easily take root when we’re wronged. But a bitter heart will block what God wants to do in and through us. We need the Holy Spirit’s help to guard our hearts. Keep asking Him to pull out any root of bitterness before it grows.
2. Keep Seeking After God
Don’t let the hurt done by people cause you to distance yourself from God. It’s normal to ask, “Why did God allow this?” or “Where is God in this?” Even David asked these questions as he ran for his life. But don’t run from God — run to Him. He is big enough for your questions, your anger, and your tears. Joseph didn’t let the injustice push him away from God; he drew closer.
3. Ask God for a Dream
Joseph’s God-given dream as a teenager gave him hope through betrayal, slavery, and prison. I believe God still wants to give His people dreams — His vision for your future that gives you strength to persevere. Ask Him to renew your vision so you can see beyond your present pain.
4. Pray for Those Who Mistreat You
One of the greatest steps toward freedom is praying blessing over those who have wronged you. It’s hard — but when you can do this sincerely, you’ll find the bitterness begins to break off. It frees you to see how God can even use their actions for your good. Remember: “God works all things together for the good of those who love Him.” (Romans 8:28)
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me respond rightly to the difficult circumstances of my life. Guard my heart from bitterness, anger, and resentment. Give me a dream that carries me through the hard times. Help me to see how You are working all things together for good — for Your purpose and my good. Amen.
