DON’T JUST SPEAK, LISTEN

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
Jeremiah 33:2–3 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Prayer Is a Conversation, not a Monologue.
One of the greatest ways to hear God’s voice is through prayer. But too often, we treat prayer like a voicemail—we talk, hang up, and walk away. God never designed prayer to be one-sided. Prayer is meant to be a two-way conversation: we talk—and we listen.
In this passage, God shows Jeremiah three powerful truths about how He relates to us in prayer:
1. Jehovah is LORD
God reminds Jeremiah who He is: the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it. He wants us to remember that He’s not just a distant deity—He’s the Creator, the One in charge of the universe. He knows the past, present, and future. Nothing surprises Him. He’s outside of time and fully trustworthy.
2. Jehovah Wants Us to ASK HIM
God says, “Ask me…”
He invites us to ask! He’s not annoyed by our questions—He wants us to seek His wisdom and counsel. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God…” He loves to reveal His heart when we take time to ask—and then wait to listen.
3. Jehovah Will Tell Us REMARKABLE SECRETS
When we pray, God promises to share “remarkable secrets”—things we could never figure out on our own. He does this through the Holy Spirit, who reveals spiritual truths that no class or book can teach. These “secrets” often come just when we need them—insight for the future, direction for today, or wisdom for a problem.
How Does God Speak Through Prayer?
Clear Promptings
Sometimes we sense a strong impression—a next step, a word of encouragement, or a clear action. This goes beyond logic; it’s a spiritual “nudge” that aligns with His Word.
Gradual Unfolding
Often, it’s not a single moment but a process. As we pray, ideas and understanding come together like puzzle pieces over time. Stay in His presence, and you’ll see His plan take shape.
A Burden That Stirs You
God may speak by putting a burden on your heart—a need you can’t ignore. That weight drives you to pray more deeply, and in that seeking, God often shows you how to respond.
Expect God to Speak
God wants to speak to you—more than you may realize. Open your heart in prayer. Don’t rush. Don’t just speak—listen. Ask Him to share what you need to know for today and what’s ahead.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I want to hear Your voice. There are so many other voices around me—help me tune in to Yours. Give me spiritual ears to listen. Show me what I need to know and what I should be doing. Amen.
