YES! GOD SEES EVERYTHING

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“This man Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, has exceptional ability and is filled with divine knowledge and understanding. He can interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.””

Daniel 5:12 NLT

“For you have proudly defied the Lord of heaven and have had these cups from his Temple brought before you. You and your nobles and your wives and concubines have been drinking wine from them while praising gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone—gods that neither see nor hear nor know anything at all. But you have not honored the God who gives you the breath of life and controls your destiny! So God has sent this hand to write this message.”

Daniel 5:23-24 NLT

That very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, was killed.

Daniel 5:30 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Nebuchadnezzar’s reign is over, and his son Belshazzar is now king of Babylon. Under Nebuchadnezzar, the empire was strong—but Belshazzar inherited not just the throne, but the pride that comes with power.

To celebrate his reign, Belshazzar throws a wild party for 1,000 of his nobles. In a moment of arrogant disrespect, he orders the sacred gold and silver vessels from God’s Temple to be used for drinking. These vessels, once set apart for holy use, are now defiled in drunken worship of idols made from metal and stone.

But God sees everything.

Suddenly, a mysterious hand appears and begins writing on the wall. Fear grips the king. None of his so-called wise men can read the writing or explain its meaning.

Then the queen mother steps in. She remembers Daniel—the man of God, the interpreter of dreams, the voice of truth in her husband’s reign. Daniel is summoned.

Daniel doesn’t flatter. He reminds Belshazzar of his father’s pride, his fall, and his eventual repentance. Then he points out Belshazzar’s failure: “You knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.”

The message is clear: You have been weighed. You have been found wanting. Your kingdom will end tonight.

And it did. That very night, Belshazzar was killed and Babylon fell.

Three Life Lessons from Daniel 5:

1. God Hates Pride

Belshazzar knew better. He had seen how God humbled his father, yet he still defied God. Pride blinds us to consequences. When we elevate ourselves above God, judgment follows.

Reflection: Am I honoring God with what He’s entrusted to me—or misusing His blessings for my own glory?

2. No One Is Too Big to Fall

Belshazzar sat on the most powerful throne of his time—but in one night, it was over. God alone raises up and brings down. No person, nation, or system is beyond His authority.

Reflection: Where do I need to be reminded that God—not me—is in control?

3. God Uses Faithful People to Deliver His Message

Daniel remained faithful for decades. When no one else had answers, they remembered Daniel’s integrity and relationship with God. In crisis, he became the voice of clarity.

Reflection: Is my life marked by wisdom, truth, and consistency so that others seek me out in their time of need?

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, make me a vessel You can use. Keep my heart humble and my life pure. Let me walk in wisdom and truth, prepared to speak when the world is confused and desperate for answers. Give me the courage to represent You, no matter the cost. Amen.
