BE BOLD AND GROUNDED

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

The king said to Daniel, ‘Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret.’ Then the king appointed Daniel to a high position and gave him many valuable gifts. He made Daniel ruler over the whole province of Babylon, as well as chief over all his wise men. At Daniel’s request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be in charge of all the affairs of the province of Babylon, while Daniel remained in the king’s court.

Daniel 2:47-49 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

King Nebuchadnezzar had a troubling dream and demanded something no man had ever asked before: that his advisors not only interpret the dream, but first tell him what the dream was. His wise men were baffled, insisting it was impossible. In fury, the king issued a death sentence for them all.

Daniel and his three friends weren’t part of that initial meeting. As young foreigners still in training, they likely weren’t included in the king’s inner circle. But when the order came to execute all the wise men—including them—Daniel didn’t panic. Instead, he acted with bold faith and respectful wisdom. He requested time from the king and declared that his God could reveal both the dream and its meaning.

What’s remarkable is that, at this point, Daniel hadn’t received a word from God. But Daniel lived a life of prayer—he was in constant communion with the Lord. So even without a specific answer yet, he stepped out in faith, trusting that God would provide. That night, Daniel called on his friends to pray with him, and in response, God revealed the entire dream and its interpretation.

The next day, Daniel stood before the king—not with pride, but with humility. He didn’t take credit. He made it clear: “There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.” His humility and faith opened the door for God to be glorified, and as a result, Daniel and his friends were promoted to positions of great influence.

This story highlights three qualities that moved God’s hand and shifted a kingdom:

Faith, humility, and prayer.

God rewards those who step out in faith, walk in humility, and give Him the glory. Daniel could have boasted. He could have sought the spotlight. But instead, he stayed grounded. And God lifted him higher than he could have ever imagined.

It’s easy to become prideful when God begins to bless us or use us. But pride always leads to downfall. Humility, on the other hand, positions us for continued favor. When we honor God with our success, He honors us with even greater influence.

Let’s be like Daniel—bold in faith, grounded in humility, and quick to give glory where it’s due.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, help me to walk in humility when You choose to use me. Let me never forget that every gift, insight, or opportunity comes from You. Keep my heart right before You and others. Use my life in a way that brings glory to God. Amen.
