WE MUST MAKE INVESTMENTS IN AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.
Proverbs 17:17 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
We all need people in our life who will be courageous, considerate, constructive, candid, confidential and committed. But there is only one way you're going to get people like this in your life: You must be that kind of friend first.
Our western social media driven culture has redefined what it means to be a friend. We can have 500 friends on social media but no one to call at 3:00am when our world if falling apart.
Our relationships can become a mile wide and an inch deep. There is no real commitment in our friendships because we have invested the time and energy to make authentic, meaningful relationships.
“A friend is always loyal.” That doesn’t mean they are loyal when they get something in exchange or when it is convenient. A true friend is willing to invest the time and energy into the relationship.
The key to having these kinds of friends is we must be that kind of a friend. We must make investments in relationships. We must be committed in the good times and the bad times.
Authentic, meaningful relationships are not built overnight. It takes time committed to each other.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to be a committed friend to key people in my life. Help me to have my heart corrected by you. Free me from selfish relationships.
