THE POWER OF PRAYER

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”
Ephesians 3:14-17 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
In this passage, Paul opens a window into his own prayer life. From his example, we find a blueprint for approaching the throne with both humility and high expectations.
1. The Posture of Humility
Paul says, “I fall to my knees.” While there isn't just one "right" physical posture for prayer—I often walk or lay prostrate—kneeling is the universal sign of surrender. When we kneel, we are intentionally making ourselves small so we can recognize how big God is. We don't approach God as if He owes us; we approach Him because we owe Him everything.
2. The Heart of a Father
Paul directs his prayer “to the Father.” This is the foundation of our faith. God isn't just a distant Creator; He is a loving Parent.
A good father supports, protects, and sometimes disciplines—but he never stops loving.
As a father and grandfather, I know there is nothing my children could do to make me stop loving them. If I, an imperfect man, can love like that, how much more does our Heavenly Father adore us?
3. The Warehouse of Heaven
Paul asks God to provide from His “glorious, unlimited resources.” Take a moment to let that sink in.
Beyond Finances: God’s "inventory" includes unlimited healing, peace, deliverance, and restoration.
The Prayer List Test: I look at my list—friends battling cancer, businesses needing miracles, broken families, and people seeking direction. My list is long, and yours probably is, too. But all our needs combined don't even make a dent in His "unlimited" supply.
Recognizing these resources should empower your "inner man." The Holy Spirit isn't just with you; He is in you, working to strengthen and direct you from the inside out.
4. The "Drought-Proof" Life
Finally, Paul says prayer ensures your “roots will grow down into God’s love.” I picture a tree that stays green even in a record-breaking heatwave. While other plants wither, this tree remains healthy because its roots have reached a deep, underground water supply.
Prayer is the act of digging your roots deep into the only source that never runs dry: The Love of God.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, teach me to pray with both humility and boldness. Remind me that Your resources are unlimited and Your love is unshakable. Today, I choose to trust You for provision, healing, and restoration. Amen.
