STIR IT UP
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.”

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Remember making chocolate milk as a kid? You’d pour chocolate syrup into a glass of milk—but if you didn’t stir it, the syrup would sink to the bottom and stay there. It wasn’t enough to have the syrup in the glass—it had to be stirred to transform the milk into chocolate milk.
That’s a picture of what happens in our spiritual lives.
As followers of Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives within us. That means love, joy, peace, kindness, and all the fruit of the Spirit are already in us. But often, they settle at the bottom of our hearts, unused and unnoticed. They must be stirred up to make a difference.
And God often uses people to do that stirring.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we need each other. We’re called to encourage and motivate one another—to stir each other up to love and service. Some people in your life bring out the best in you. Just being around them makes you want to be more generous, more thoughtful, more loving. That’s no accident—that’s spiritual stirring.
We need people like that—and we also need to be people like that.
Ask yourself:
• Who in my life stirs me up in the right direction?
• Who can I encourage today to keep going, to love more, and to serve well?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, thank You for living in me. Help me open my life to people who will stir up the best in me. And help me be someone who stirs others up to love and good works. Make me an encourager and a builder of people.
