TRUE AND TRUSTWORTHY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”
Proverbs 30:5 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where do you find truth?
In today’s world, it seems anyone with a computer and internet connection can claim to be an “expert.” Sorting through what’s real and what’s fake can be exhausting.
Now, with the rise of artificial intelligence, we see posts and videos that look completely genuine—but a little research often reveals they’re not. Sadly, our culture thrives on spreading rumors and “dirt,” which only adds to the confusion.
That’s why Solomon’s words in this proverb are so powerful. He gives us three timeless truths to anchor our lives in a world full of deception.
1. God’s Word Proves True
If you really want to know truth, you must go to the source—God’s Word. But discovering truth is more than just reading the Bible; it’s about reflecting on it and applying it.
For years, I made it a goal to read through the Bible every year—and I was proud of that. But one morning after my reading time, the Holy Spirit quietly asked, “What did you read today?” I realized I couldn’t remember.
That was a turning point for me. I decided it’s better to read less and think more deeply about what I read. Truth doesn’t transform us just because we read it—it changes us when we meditate on it and live it out.
2. God Is a Shield
When we apply God’s Word to our lives, we discover that He truly becomes our shield. His truth protects us from the lies, confusion, and chaos around us.
When we know the truth of Scripture, we’re not easily swayed by fear, anxiety, or the enemy’s deceptions. God’s Word reminds us of who we are—more than conquerors in Christ, forgiven and free. His truth guards our hearts and minds when everything around us feels uncertain.
A few years ago, I was watching a pre-recorded football game in which I knew my team had won. My team did not start out the game very well and it was interesting hearing the commentators trash the effort of my team. They were quick to point out their dismal play and bad coaching. I did not get anxious about their comments at all—I already knew conclusion; my team was going to make an incredible come back and win in the fourth quarter.
This is the advantage we get when we read God’s Word. It becomes our shield against the commentators of life that want to write us off as failures.
3. We Must Come to Him
God’s truth and protection aren’t automatic—they’re found when we come to Him. Coming to God means humbling ourselves, admitting we don’t have all the answers, and surrendering control.
When we recognize our limits, we begin to experience His limitless strength. Where we fall short, He is more than enough. His presence fills every gap in our weakness with grace and power.
Reflection:
Truth isn’t found in the noise of the world—it’s found in the quiet place with God and His Word.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to make Your Word a priority in my life today. Teach me to come to You for truth and protection. Help me to humble myself before You and trust that You are enough for every need I face. Amen.
