GRATITUDE IS WORSHIP

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.””
Luke 17:11-19 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, He entered a village where ten men with leprosy stood at a distance. Because of their disease, they were cut off from family, community, worship, and work. Isolated and desperate, they cried out for mercy—and they cried out to the right person.
Jesus told them to go show themselves to the priests, the very step required by the Law to confirm someone had been healed. What’s remarkable is that they obeyed before anything changed. As they walked in faith, the miracle met them on the way.
Every one of them received healing, yet only one returned to offer thanks. This man fell at Jesus’ feet with heartfelt gratitude. Jesus’ question still echoes: “Where are the other nine?” It’s a sobering reminder of how easily blessings can be enjoyed but forgotten.
How many times has God answered a prayer, opened a door, protected you, provided for you—and you moved on without pausing to thank Him? Gratitude is more than manners; it’s worship. It brings us back to Jesus’ feet, where faith deepens and perspective changes.
Take a moment today to recall God’s goodness in your life. Let praise rise before you make another request.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, shape my heart into one that remembers Your goodness. Teach me to be quick to praise and slow to complain. Forgive me for the times I’ve asked for more before thanking You for what You’ve already done. Fill me with gratefulness today.
