GOD HAS MERCY ON US
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
Isaiah 54:10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
God loves you!
God is not waiting for you to get your life together and be perfect. God loves you because He has chosen to extend mercy to you.
In life we often feel love because we perform a certain way. If we do the right things or dress the right way, then we will be loved by others. Society often bases love on attraction, performance, or possessions.
If we look a certain way we will be loved. If we act a certain way we will be loved. If we have enough money, we will be loved. These are all markers of a society in trouble.
This kind of thinking is what messes up our view of God’s love for us. We apply society’s thinking to God. We think we must perform, look, or achieve to be loved by God.
There is nothing I can do to earn God’s love, nor is there anything I can do to lose God’s love. God has made a covenant to love us as His children.
When we fully accept that we are loved by God we become free to really love others. Our love for others begins when we feel loved ourselves. This impacts our marriages, parenting, and every relationship in our lives.
TODAY’S PRAYER
