REST IN GOD DAILY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.”
Proverbs 18:10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where do you run in times of trouble?
This is a reminder by Solomon that God Himself is our strong fortress. His name is a place of safety and security. The question is—do we run to Him first, or do we turn to everything else before finally calling on His name?
I remember watching the football game in 2023 when Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. In that frightening moment, something powerful happened: players, coaches, and fans dropped to their knees in prayer. Across the stadium, people weren’t just watching—they were calling on the Lord.
More recently, after the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, thousands gathered in a stadium to honor his life. What struck me most was how often the name of Jesus was spoken. Even during pain, people were declaring where their hope and safety truly rest.
David paints the same picture in Psalm 91—God is our refuge, our shelter, our fortress. He is the one who covers us and gives us rest.
But here’s the key: it’s easier to call on the Lord in a crisis if we already walk with Him daily. Why wait until the storm hits to learn His voice? Why wait for the emergency to run into His fortress?
Instead, let’s practice His presence today. Let’s make the Lord our dwelling place—not just our emergency shelter. When we learn to rest in Him daily, we’ll know exactly where to run when trouble comes.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to live in Your presence each day. Teach me to draw near to You—not just in crisis, but in every moment. Be my refuge, my fortress, and my peace. Amen.
