LET MY LIFE BE MARKED BY YOUR GRACE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. From now on, don’t let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus. Dear brothers and sisters, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.”
Galatians 6:16–18 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul closes his letter with words that carry deep weight. Let’s notice three things:
1. “They are the new people of God”
This phrase has sparked much discussion. Some scholars believe Paul is speaking of Gentile believers, emphasizing that grace—not the law—makes one a true child of God. Others hold that Paul is speaking about Jewish believers who had embraced Christ as Messiah.
Either way, the truth remains the same: entry into God’s family comes only through faith in Jesus. It is not heritage, culture, or law-keeping that makes us His children, but being born again by grace through faith. In Christ, both Jew and Gentile stand together as heirs of God’s kingdom.
2. “I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus”
Paul had literal scars—lashes on his back, wounds from beatings, marks from imprisonment. He wore them not as shame, but as proof of his loyalty to Christ.
The same is true spiritually for us. Following Jesus brings battles—rejection, lies, misunderstanding, even loss. A mentor once said, “Never trust someone without scars.” Scars—whether physical or emotional—testify that we’ve stood firm in the fight of faith. They remind us that we truly belong to Jesus.
3. “May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit”
Paul ends where he began—with grace. Grace is not just the starting point of faith; it is the atmosphere in which we live, breathe, and walk with God. May our lives, our words, and our spirit always be marked by grace toward others, just as God has shown grace to us.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to remain faithful to Jesus, whatever the cost. Teach me to see scars as signs of Your work in my life and fill me with grace so that I reflect Your heart to others. Amen.
