Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3 NLT

Recently I was taking out the garbage and became aware that I was trying to stuff too much trash into one trash bag. The bag was full and couldn’t hold any more trash. Our mind is just like the trash bag—there is a limit to what our minds can hold. If we choose to fill our minds with thoughts that are pleasing to God there will not be room for the trashy thoughts that distract us from our God-ordained destiny. This is why it is important to ask who, or what, is filling our minds? If we aren’t intentional about putting good stuff in our minds, then Satan will be sure to provide a lot of trash to fill our minds. It can come to television, our computer, our smart phone, social media, movies, music, or even the wrong friends. If you were to take an honest look at your life, where do you think trashy thoughts would most like come from? Now, what can you do to limit or replace that source with a positive source?

Holy Spirit, show me the action I can take to fill my mind with the right stuff. Show what needs to be removed. Show me what needs to be added.

Lord help me keep persistence in filling my mind with your word rather than things of this world

Thankful for friends on the same path that we met at church.

I want to leave no room for the trashy thoughts.
