SHARE THE BURDEN

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
When I read this verse, the picture that comes to mind is the gym. In my gym there’s a section filled with free weights, where serious lifters push themselves to new limits. One thing I’ve noticed: no experienced lifter works alone. They always have a “spotter.” The spotter stands close, ready to lend strength when the lifter can’t finish a rep on their own. The goal isn’t to embarrass the lifter, but to make sure they can finish strong.
That’s the picture Paul paints here for the church. The law of Christ is love, and one of the clearest ways we live that out is by spotting one another—sharing the weight of each other’s burdens.
Here are two practical takeaways:
1. We need each other.
Life is too tough to do alone. Without authentic relationships, there is no one to step in when the weight is too much. If we wait until we collapse under the load to seek help, it’s too late. We build relationships now, so that when the burden comes—and it will—we already have someone ready to step in.
2. We must be sensitive to each other.
We can’t live only focused on our own needs. We need spiritual eyes—eyes trained by the Holy Spirit—to notice the pain and struggles of those around us. The command to “love one another” requires more than good intentions; it requires attention. We need to look for opportunities to help someone else finish their set.
The body of Christ has the power to transform the world—not by grand programs, but by simple acts of burden-sharing. Imagine the testimony of a community where no one carries their load alone. That’s the love of Christ on display.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to build authentic, meaningful relationships. Keep me from hiding in my pain or ignoring the struggles of others. Open my eyes to see the needs around me and give me the courage to step in and help carry the weight.
