WHAT I CLING TO IN TIMES OF CRISIS

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. So many enemies against one man— all of them trying to kill me. To them I’m just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence. They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. Interlude Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. Interlude….God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you; unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done.”
Psalms 62:1-8, 11-12 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
David knew what it was like to face opposition, betrayal, and unfair treatment. Yet in this psalm, he reminds us of truths we can cling to in our own times of struggle.
1. Learn to wait on the Lord
God’s timing is rarely our timing. Waiting is not passive—it’s an act of faith. Trusting God means believing not only that He can act but that He will act at the right time. Seasons of waiting grow patience in us, one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22–23).
2. Expect real opposition
The enemy of our souls is always at work, often through people with selfish motives. Like David, we may encounter those who flatter us in person but undermine us in secret. Satan uses deception and pride to discourage us, but we must remember our struggle is ultimately spiritual (Eph. 6:12).
3. Make God your refuge
In times of hurt, where do you run? David declared, “He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.” God invites us to pour out our hearts to Him honestly—our fears, frustrations, and questions. Worship and the Word re-center us, renew our courage, and remind us that our safety is in Him.
4. Trust God to balance the scales
God sees, God knows, and God keeps perfect records. In His time, He will bring justice and reward faithfulness. We don’t need to fight for vindication—He is our defender. Faith means trusting His heart, His work, and His timing.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me wait on You without growing impatient. Remind me to run to You as my refuge when I feel attacked or discouraged. Teach me to worship while I wait, and to trust that in Your perfect time, You will bring victory. Amen.
