HEARING THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT CHRIST

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!’
But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, ‘Lord, who has believed our message?’ So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”
Romans 10:14–17 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul lays down an unshakeable, logical chain that serves as the blueprint for global evangelism: People cannot call on Christ until they believe; they cannot believe until they hear; they cannot hear unless someone tells them; and no one can tell them unless they are sent.
Missiologists estimate that around 3 billion people on Earth today have little to no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Spread across thousands of distinct unreached people groups, millions have not actively rejected Jesus—they simply have never heard His name.
Paul outlines our sacred responsibility to change that reality.
1. Someone Must Be Sent to Tell Them
The Gospel does not travel through abstract ideals; it travels through real human beings empowered by the Holy Spirit and sent out by the local church.
A core value of any healthy church is reaching the lost—not only in our local neighborhood, but to the ends of the earth:
Around the Corner and Around the World: We are called to care for our immediate community while maintaining a vision for global missions.
Sending Requires Support: Missionaries cannot go unless believers stand behind them with fervent prayer and faithful financial support.
To Whom Much Is Given: Jesus taught that to whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). Having been blessed with abundance, we hold a stewardship obligation before God to channel our resources to send messengers of Good News to unreached nations.
Quoting Isaiah 52:7, Paul reminds us that God views the feet of those who carry the Gospel as "beautiful." Moving outward to share hope is a high calling in the kingdom of God.
2. Faith Comes by Hearing the Word
Once the message is proclaimed, the hearer must respond in faith. Verse 17 provides an essential principle: "Faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ."
What Is Faith?
Faith is ultimately the ability to see life from God’s perspective.
This applies first to salvation: we stop seeing ourselves through our own self-righteousness or hopelessness, and we see that God loved us enough to send His Son to redeem us.
This also applies to our daily walk: as we saturate our minds with the Word of God, our perspective shifts from human fear to divine faith:
We believe God will supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19) because the Word says so.
We believe we walk in spiritual wholeness (1 Peter 2:24) because the Word says so.
We believe we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) because the Word says so.
We believe God works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28) because the Word says so.
Fear reacts to visible circumstances; faith responds to the spoken Word of God.
Reflection & Application
Are you actively involved in global mission work? How are you using your time, talent, and financial treasure to ensure that unreached people groups hear the Gospel?
Is your life marked by faith or fear? When challenges arise, do you view them through natural circumstances or through the lens of God's Word?
Whose feet are you encouraging today? How can you support, pray for, or resource those who are taking the Good News to difficult places around the world?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, open my heart to see the world through Your eyes. Show me my specific role in ensuring that the Good News of Jesus reaches every nation, tribe, and tongue on earth.
Teach me to be a faithful sender—generously giving my time, prayers, and resources so that those who have never heard may encounter the Savior.
Fill my mind with Your Word so that faith arises in my heart every single day. Help me turn away from fear, anchor my perspective on Your promises, and walk boldly as a person of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
