The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

Psalms 9:9-10 NLT

As I write this devotional, I confess to having some rough nights of interrupted sleep. Even though I go to sleep quickly I find myself wide awake at some very early hours with my mind racing. I have some friends going through very difficult times dealing with family and ministry issues. My wife, Cindy, is struggling physically with some challenges that impact us both a lot. Early this morning I spent time talking to the Lord. I told Him He was my hope and my strength. I asked for help to release my cares into His hands. Then I came to this passage in my morning reading. It was a reminder that God is still the One to turn to in times of trouble. I must pause and remind myself of Who God is by reminding myself of His name. My God is Elohim—the Strong Creator God. He created everything out of nothing! He is the most powerful God. He is El Shaddai—the God of more than enough. He is the God Who can do immeasurably more than I can ask or imagine. He is Jehovah Jireh—the Lord is my Provider. He is Jehovah Shalom—the Lord is my peace. He is Jehovah Rapha—the Lord is my healer. He is Jehovah Shammah—the Lord is present. Just taking the moments to type some of His names builds my faith and reminds me of Who I serve. I choose to trust that He is able. He is more than enough. He is all I need.

Holy Spirit help me to fully place my trust in You. Help me to walk every day by trusting You. You are everything I need.
