THE ETERNAL LORD OF ALL

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One…
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.’”
Revelation 1:8, 17–18 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega.
These titles come from the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, and they declare that Jesus stands at the beginning of all things and remains at the end of all things. He is eternal, unchanging, and sovereign over every moment in between.
When John encountered this vision of the risen Christ, he collapsed at Jesus’ feet—completely overwhelmed. A true revelation of Jesus’ majesty always produces humility and awe. His presence is not casual. It is weighty, holy, and breathtaking.
That’s why it’s concerning when we speak of Jesus in ways that feel too light or overly familiar. Yes, He is our friend. Yes, He invites us close. But we must never lose our sense of wonder. His birth in a humble manger should not distract us from the glory of His eternal identity. He is the One who always existed and who will forever reign.
Jesus died and rose again. Others, like Lazarus, were raised—but only temporarily. Jesus rose never to return to the grave. He lives today, and He will live when this world passes away. Long after time ends, He remains the Alpha and the Omega.
As we move through the Christmas season, it’s good to pause and reclaim that awe. The Child in the manger is the eternal Lord of all. He stands before the beginning and beyond the end.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me not to lose sight of the greatness of Jesus. Stir my heart with reverence as I reflect on Him as the Alpha and the Omega.
