IN HIS IMAGE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.

Genesis 2:7 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

As the Bible opens in Genesis, we read the story of God’s creation. We need to remind ourselves that in this passage God teaches us some great truths. First, we learn that God created everything out of nothing. We serve a God Who is capable of taking nothing and making it something. Second, we learn that God chose the medium of speech to release His creative ability. Everything God created was the result of the breath of God being spoken. There is creative power for good or bad in our speech as well because we are created in God’s image. Thirdly, we learn that the crowning creation of God was mankind. His final creations were Adam and Eve. Everything else in creation was formed simply by God who spoke them into existence. But with man God “formed the man.” We were formed in the image of God and He “breathed the breath of life in the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.” It was, and is, the breath of God that makes us a living being. We are unique in all of creation because we have the breath of God within us. We are created to live forever. We may pass through the door of death into a different form of life, but we have eternal life. There is within every one of us the seed of eternity. We are made in the image of God. We have indestructible life within us.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me to realize Your life that is living in me. Help me to speak Your life into my world and circumstances. Help me to allow Your image to shine through me today.

Thank You Father that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and You have a plan. I pray that I stay true to Your course, not mine.
