TELL GOD!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

As we approach the conclusion of a year and beginning of a new year this is a great time to consider our goals and objectives for the new year. In spending over 40 years working with people I have concluded that everyone has a problem with worry. There are some people that tend to worry about everything, and others only worry about certain things—but we all worry. I have never considered myself a worry type person. I am basically a “half-full” kind of guy who always sees the positive in people and circumstances. Over the past few years with all that we have experienced I have had moments of worry. As we approach a new year what if we set a goal to worry less and pray more? I believe this verse of scripture could become one of our life verses for the new year. We could decide that we will tell God what we need and thank Him for all He has done. I believe when we consistently take time to thank God for what He has done and Who He is we will spend a lot less time in worry. For myself I choose to begin every time of prayer with a time of worship and praise to God. My worship is when I acknowledge Who God is. He is my Provider, Healer, Righteousness, Sanctification, Peace, Shepherd, and a lot more. I am not declaring Who He is for the sake of His ego. My purpose in taking time every day to declare Who God is helps remind me Who He is. It builds my faith by reminding me of His character. Then I take time to thank God for what He has done. I thank Him for my marriage, my children and grandchildren, the house I live in, the automobiles I get to drive, etc. By taking time to list the things I am thankful for it builds my faith and calms my fears. Nothing conquerors worry and fear more than taking time to worship and praise God. After I have reminded myself of Who He is and what He has done I then ask God for what I need. I take time to speak His will over the issues of my life. Let’s start the new year with faith and not fear.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me to daily take time to worship and praise You. Help me to remember to worship and praise as much as I ask.
