THE ULTIMATE BENEFIT PACKAGE
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.”
Ephesians 1:22 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The Apostle Paul concludes this chapter with a staggering vision of the authority of Jesus. He isn't just "higher" than earthly leaders; He is exalted "far above" every ruler, authority, power, and leader—not just in our current political and social climate, but in the eternal world to come.
Sovereign Over Everything
Take a moment to let that sink in. Jesus is Lord over everything.
There is no situation too complex for His wisdom.
There is no human or spiritual power that can veto His commands.
There is no "rubble" in your life that falls outside His jurisdiction.
The Surprising Twist: "For the Benefit of the Church"
Here is the most world-changing part of this passage: God didn’t just give Jesus this supreme authority for His own sake. He did it "for the benefit of the church" (v. 22).
Think about that. The One who holds the stars in place and governs the heavens is exercising His supreme authority for your advantage. Jesus loves the Church. He died for it, established it, and promised that even the gates of hell could not prevail against it.
Are You Receiving the Benefits?
The Church is described as His Body. It is where He chooses to express His fullness. When we distance ourselves from the local church, we aren't just missing a service; we are stepping out from under the "benefit package" Christ provided. Being an active part of the Church allows us to:
Operate in His Authority: We walk in the power of the Head.
Experience His Fullness: We are "made complete" together, not in isolation.
Find Our Purpose: Our unique gifts are designed to function within the Body.
The Church is not an organization we observe; it is a spiritual organism we inhabit. It is the place where Christ’s "all-things-under-His-feet" power is most visible on earth.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, thank You for the privilege of being part of Your Body. I ask that You place me exactly where my unique gifts, talents, and abilities can best serve the Church. Help me to live today with the confidence that my Head is sovereign over every authority I face. Amen.
