PRAY/THANK/FIX
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:6-8 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Would God tell me to do something that I couldn’t do?
The answer is an obvious “no.”
If God tells us in the Bible not to worry about anything then it must be possible to live without worry. I believe God doesn’t ask us to do something without giving us a plan on how to accomplish what He is asking. So, let’s dive into God’s plan on how to live worry free.
First, He tells us to learn to pray— “tell God what you need.” We need to learn to spend time talking to God. Not just over our food or before we go to bed at night or have a major problem. Talk to God daily.
Secondly, we need to “thank Him for all He has done.” We must learn to take time to worship and praise God. Give Him thanks for what He has done and Who He is. Reflect on the good things God has done for us. Praise always releases faith.
Then there is big final step— “fix your thoughts.” This is where we choose to focus on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise. This takes intentional effort. To fix our thoughts, we must intentionally work at the goal. Our thoughts are often influenced by a culture that loves to promote fear and the worst possible junk.
We can start by fixing our thoughts on the Word of God. God’s Word is truth. The more we read God’s Word the more we fix our thoughts.
