THE SCRIPTURES SAY
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Matthew 4:4 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Think a moment of the power of words. God chose words to create the universe. He said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. Even today we see the power of words. In 1924, Adolf Hitler started writing his book, Mein Kampf, which means “My Struggle.” Some people ignored the book, and some laughed at it. But the words carried a message that would eventually lead to millions of people dying. A politician can use words to write a bill to spend billions of dollars. A judge can write a sentence, and someone is placed in prison for the rest of their lives. The Word of God is incredibly powerful. His Word builds our faith, gives us direction, and brings freedom into our lives. We should be people who choose to make God’s Word part of every day of our lives. When we become students of the Word, we are discovering freedom, direction, and faith. We are living in clarity and peace because we have the Word of Life inside of us. Let’s start this year committing to live in God’s Word daily.
