FROM FORSAKEN TO DELIGHT

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
“And you will be given a new name by the Lord’s own mouth. The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see—a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called ‘The Forsaken City’... Your new name will be ‘The City of God’s Delight.’”
Isaiah 62:2-4 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The prophet Isaiah is speaking to Jerusalem. God is declaring that He will not stop working on the city's behalf until her righteousness and glory are undeniable to the rest of the world.
In the ancient Near East, a name was more than just a label; it signified a person’s character and destiny. By giving Jerusalem a "new name," God was declaring that her old, broken character was being replaced by His own splendor.
The Application for You
The same radical exchange is available to us through Christ. Before we met Jesus, we were defined by our labels. Perhaps you were known as "The Addict," "The Liar," "The Failure," or "The Forsaken." Those names carried the weight of your past.
But the moment you confess Jesus as Lord, the blood He shed on the cross pays the price for your relocation—and your new name.
Living Up to the Name
We are now called Christians—meaning "Little Christs." We are called to be the Bride of God.
You are not who you used to be. The "Old Man" is buried. The Holy Spirit is working within you to cultivate a new nature. When people look at your life, they shouldn't see your old labels; they should see a "splendid crown" held in the hand of God. You are a new creation. It’s time to stop answering to names that God has already deleted from your file.
The Question for Today
Are you still allowing your past mistakes to name you, or are you ready to identify yourself the way God identifies you?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to see myself through Your eyes. I reject the labels of "Forsaken" or "Failure" and I choose to accept the new name You have given me. Help me to live in a way that reveals Your glory to the world around me. I am Your delight. Amen.
